hiiiiiiii!

I don’t know about you but I like working with people who inspire me in some way – maybe we’ve got something in common or you’re intrigued by my background. Here’s a little bit about me so you can decide if we might mesh well.

I was that kid who played at schoolyard counsellor, being there with a shoulder to cry on and a skipping rope. I grew up in an atypical house, with a Deaf mom, dad, and sister, and navigating the first years of my life using American Sign Language. I’m hard of hearing, have the volume cranked on my devices, and have successfully navigated the world with stellar coping mechanisms that include tea, maple syrup, and hammock time.

As a result of growing up in a diverse and community-focused household, I spent six years at university, exploring sixteen different disciplines and being curious about humanities, sciences, and socio-economic systems. I worked in non-profits focused on social good and started up an edtech company with my husband in 2014 with the goal of creating more accessible storytelling tools for video games. I even have a TEDTalk about this! I’m proud that we raised over $600K from our network and government innovation grants.

I’ve also been a stand-up comedian, a laughter yoga teacher, and a Free Hugger in addition to being a globetrotting speaker and wanderer, engaging over 50,000 people with radically honest keynotes about entrepreneurship, startup life, authentic personal growth, and interactive narrative storytelling.

My Life in a Nutshell

These days, I champion clients to clarify their priorities and messaging to better align them to the future they want – whether that’s a better job or launching a new business idea.

Philosophy on Giving

Being raised in the Deaf community and having worked in community-focused non-profits for over 7 years, I believe we should all contribute to our collective wellness, economic opportunity, and dignity when we are able. To do so, we must acknowledge and understand how privilege intersects with that.

I work on a sliding scale to encourage clients to factor in their career experience/ opportunity, economic situation, geographic, education, racial, and gender privilege when selecting their payment rate.

This model allows me to provide 10-20% of my time pro bono to clients who cannot afford to hire me otherwise. It’s a lovely way to pay it forward.

All clients are treated with equal commitment and respect. I hold long-held beliefs that we are all better when we create and support opportunities for equitable and fair access.
