1:1 Coaching

I believe my clients understand what they want, are capable of achieving it, and need some guidance or support to get there.

In one-on-one career coaching sessions, we explore and clarify your personal values and professional priorities, distil how your experience aligns with your desired career path, and craft a compelling career narrative – your Unapologetic Career Story – to boost your confidence, get clarity about your path forward, and land you more interviews.

What I Offer My Coaching Clients

Frequently Asked Questions

What does working 1:1 with Jean look like?

Intake: Discuss your priorities, goals, and challenges. You’ll be granted access to my curated resources: over 400 resumes of past clients plus a comprehensive resource document with materials for job seeking, interview prep, salary review and negotiation and more.

Development: Based our intake conversation and your specific deliverables, we’ll set the path forward.

  • Career coaching clients bring gentle, compassionate drafts of new resume/cover letter/LinkedIn materials to our development sessions. We’ll edit together with in-depth questions along the way (sneaking in interview prep!) to jazz it up and tell the stories you might have overlooked along the way.
  • Leadership coaching clients set our meeting agendas with their topics for discussion – ranging from current challenges, roadmapping what’s ahead, and identifying growth opportunities

Exploration: This is a container to examine and explore your priorities, goals, and challenges – a non-judgemental container for career curiosity!

Accountability: You’ll be supported and championed through this process with gentle but firm accountability with your needs and accommodations in mind. I’m fun, kind, joyful, and committed to helping you reach your goals WITH you!

Client packages vary by length of career experience and range from 3-6 hours together, which will be assessed in a free, no-pressure consult chat.

  • Clients with less than 5 years of work experience typically work with me for three hours over an intake session (90m), development session (60m), and a final review and wrap-up session (30m).
  • Clients with 5-10 years’ experience typically work with me for four hours. Intake sessions may be up to 2 hours long, plus we allocate more time for development sessions, and other goals.
  • Clients with 10+ years’ experience typically work with me for four to six hours, depending on their stated needs. Intake sessions are 2 hours long, plus we’ll allocate additional time for development sessions, and other goals. Subject Matter Expertise clients with an interest in developing consultancy businesses can incorporate this into our work.

After our initial intake session, most clients schedule their subsequent sessions 1-3 weeks after, to allow time to work on their materials. We’ll meet via Google Meets (camera on/off is your preference). With client permission, sessions are audio recorded and an AI transcript is provided.

Being raised in the Deaf community and having worked in community-focused non-profits for over 7 years, I believe we should all contribute to our collective wellness, economic opportunity, and dignity when we are able. To do so, we must acknowledge and understand how privilege intersects with that.

I work on a sliding scale to encourage clients to factor in their career experience/ opportunity, economic situation, geographic, education, racial, and gender privilege when selecting their payment rate.

As my clients’ incomes typically range from $60,000 to $600,000 USD, I ask clients to select a rate between $250 to $650 USD per hour. This is paid upfront prior to our intake session but can be paid in two instalments if requested.

This model allows me to provide 10-20% of my time on a pro bono basis to clients who cannot afford my work otherwise. It’s a lovely way to pay it forward.

All clients are treated with equal commitment and respect. I hold long-held beliefs that we are all better when we create and support opportunities for equitable and fair access.

Coaching is focused on finding alignment with your goals and purpose and creating space and guidance to reach this.  In career coaching, goals often include: figuring out what path feels like a fit, deciphering job description jargon, and aligning your work history to solve hiring managers’ problems.

Coaching is not therapy.

Sometimes unpleasant subjects are explored relating to past workplaces or past personal experiences that impact our confidence. I will approach these with care to honour your feeling of safety but understand that the diagnosis and treatment of mental health is best left to trained mental health professionals, not coaches.

Coaching may not be for you if:

    • If you are struggling with daily functioning, have memory issues or experience disassociation
    • If you experience intense trauma responses from unresolved trauma
    • If you struggle with personal or professional relationships, have trust issues or are challenged by maintaining boundaries
